Monthly 3-D Shoot

2295 Lee Land Road

Gainesville, GA 30507

Saturday, July 10, 2021

9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The next scheduled event at the NGTA Club is Saturday July 10, 2021. Believe it or not, this is the next to last shoot of 2021 for us. This will also be the date for our annual business meeting and officer election. The meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the drawing for the winner of the Lorrie Angel Benefit. We will then get into the other necessary items of business. The meeting usually lasts less than half an hour.

We will set 20 targets in the woods at varying distances from a single stake. Shoot from the stake or from any point you desire between the stake and the target, depending on your level of confidence in your shooting ability. The course will be adequately marked so it will be easy to find your way around. Better yet, shoot with someone who is familiar with our layouts and make a new friend. Shoot the course as many times as you’d like for one low price.

Shoot fees – Unchanged since who knows when?

Members - $5.00 per shooter

Family of three or more - $15.00

Non-members - $10.00

Family of three or more - $25.00

Kids under 12 years of age shoot free.

First time shooters at our club shoot free.

Lunch will be served at this event. Lunch is available to anyone who gives a $5 donation to help offset the cost of the groceries. It’ll be burgers and dogs, one of each for your donation. We’ll have soft drinks and chips as well. And bottled water.

NOTE: All members and guests must register at the registration table upon arrival.

We also have the Lorrie Angell Benefit and tickets on the Drop Tines Custom Mantis Tribute Bow will be available at the shoot until 12:50 p.m. The drawing for this bow will be held at 1:00 p.m.

At the North Georgia Traditional Archery Club, we define traditional archery equipment to include longbows, recurve bows, and primitive bows.

Please, no compound bows, crossbows, or any equipment that does not fit our definition of traditional bows. Loaner bows and arrows are available for anyone who doesn’t have their own equipment.

It was a good day Saturday at NGTA. We had 49 shooters on the day with an enjoyable course for them to shoot. There were some tough shots, but only a little complaining was heard. It was good natured griping, however.
We had our annual business meeting and elected officers for 2022. They are:
David Grogan - President
Mike Mathis - Vice President
Gene Bramblett - Secretary/Treasurer
Steve Angell - At large
Mike Clark - Immediate past President
The club voted to do what is needed to upgrade a couple of spots in one of our roadways where erosion has made it necessary to take action.
We will schedule a general workday for a Saturday in February, 2022 to get a few needed projects completed. We will need help with these items and all you will need to do is show up with a pair of work gloves and a bit of energy. I’ll post the notice of the date and time here.
We discussed the need to reduce the number of classes for next month’s championship shoot to the following:
Men’s
Women’s
Primitive
Youth
Junior
Cub
We will give first place awards in each of these five classes.
My personal thanks go to the faithful set up crew of James Clark, Ted Kooistra, and David Grogan. These same men, plus Mike Clark and Mike Mathis also pulled and put the targets away at the end of the day. These guys make our club go. I don’t know where we’d be without them and their abilities and willingness to get the job done. Thank you, guys!
Last shoot of the year is next month, August 7. Mark your calendar.
