Here I am with a bass, little over eight pounds I remember. 1950, Tampa Fl. area

Me aboard the USS Intrepid CVS 11. A carrier. In our berthing quarters right under the flight deck aft. Taken while down around Cuba in 63 during the missile blockade. I was a radioman, Morse code was my main job. Had four other titles too, more than one man needed.

Grandparents, N.T. and Annie Rebecca Anderson. Durant Fl, Hillsborough Co. Early 1950's on an Easter day. I'm not in the photo.

Flight deck of the USS Intrepid with huge waves coming over the flight deck. Hurricane Ginny 1963. The flight deck was about 90 feet above the water line.

Grandparents on my Moms side. Irish Grandfather, Cherokee Grandmother. SW Va in some of the roughest mountains in the region. Devils Branch.
Where in SW VA? My wifes family was from Damscus Va. at the foot of Whitetop Mtn. settled there around 1880.

SW Va. Near the Breaks National park on the Ky line. Grundy area I think. Moms people were the Hagys, Reeds, Murphys and some kin to the Hatfields.
The Reeds and Murphys were in the Cherokee Rolls, Henderson rolls I think.

My brother was born in Grundy. My grandmother on my Dads side was related to the first settler in Elkhorn on the KY side of the breaks. She was Ramey which comes from the French name Remy.
