The gospel (good news) is that God's righteousness has been given freely as a gift, and not through anything anyone has done to earn it. That is, it's righteousness that we receive as a gift, apart from any righteous act that we do. In other words, there is no righteous act that we can do or have other done through which we've been made righteous. Said another way, our righteous acts have nothing to do with the fact that God has gifted us with His very own righteousness.

There are many ways to say it, but do we "get" it!?

God's righteousness is given by Him, to us, freely, as a gift, through nothing we've ever done or will ever do! We receive it, by grace alone, through faith. We don't work for it or earn it. We can't work for it or earn it. It's a free gift!!!

Rom 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it [the gospel] the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith."

Rom 3:21-24
But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus...
