Plant ID help

Does anyone know what this is that’s taken over the edge of my pond? You can’t fish off the bank anywhere now which really stinks for the kids. It showed up in the back of the pond two years ago and now it’s just exploded.

Looking for some help with ID and recommendations for killing it. Thanks!

Looks like buttonbush to me too, from what I can see from the pics.

The internet pics of button bush show a very distinct flower and a lot of it (see the pic I attached below from a website). This stuff doesn’t flower. The first ones that showed up at the back of the pond look like they’ll become small trees if left unchecked.
