I've never eaten chanterelles but I've got these all over behind my house. Just curious if I can eat these guys if I get the notion.

Doesn't look like chants. Woods are full of the real thing these days. Get a book and go hit a hardwood bottom and find some.

Is that a cinnabar chanterelle?

Could be but those are much larger than the cinnabar I have found. I have never picked any cinnabar because they are so tiny. And there are non chants that look too much like that for me to bother. Fungi vary a lot.

I suggest sticking to the especially tasty and unmistakable.

I've got some growing around the house that are like those. Not sure what they are either.

With mushrooms, pretty sure is not acceptable, you must be 100 % sure

Yep, those are chants. Top ones look like minors and the bottom ones are cinnibars.
