Hunted a local wma was in the bottums and creeks. Saw lots of sign etc just no hogs. Just wondering is this the general strategy or do you hunt thicker areas further into the year as they get pressured?

I would find the thickest hunt able stuff there.

Jack up in a tree in a grown over cutover.

IMO, pressured hogs are tougher to hunt than pressured deer.

Pine thickets are natural wind barriers and this time of year they have dumped lots of needles and pigs love to make beds in them.....especially sows dropping piglets. If the trees aren’t too young, many times they will open up once you get in them. IMHO, if you can see real far, your in the wrong spot.

Another way I like to hunt pigs is look for big blown over trees. The pigs love to pile up in the hole and hide behind the root ball.

Thick areas are always a go to. So are bottoms and Water. Finding FRESH sign is the biggest key for me. They will be relatively right close, unless someone beat you to them that hunt.
