My grandfather, with his tank he commanded in WW2. He is the one standing on the tank. The bottom pic is him the day after a fierce battle ended in the Hurtgen Forest. He was part of the 28 Infantry Division. They suffered massive losses there but succeded. The shells on his shoulder were their last. If the fighting the day before lasted another 15 minutes, they would have been defenseless. The next day, they were then sent to Luxembourg to regroup as this area was not hot at the time. Little did he or his infantry know they would be on the front line in what became the battle of the bulge. What struct me the last years of his life was he was more open to discuss his war time. It would always start with laughing and funny storries about his buddies then he would get to the battle in that forrest and subsequently the battle of the bulge, and would stop, tear up and say thats all for now. Yes Ive seen the movies but it's hard to imagine what it must have been like to have actually been there and what he endured. I imagine each day he thought would be his last.

What I knew : I dislike those walmarks cart wheel locks. They lock well before the end of the lot. About 2/3 the distance of the far spots and just right about where the hook shaped tar mark is. You can look and see the skid marks where the wheels lock

what I learned : the mule, the little engine thing, has its own short range wheel unlocker

the carts at the far end of the lot do not slow down the cart collector guy
