RANGEL TO
QUIT IF DEMS LOSE

August 2, 2006 -- Charles Rangel, the dean of New York's congressional delegation, said yesterday he'd resign his seat if Democrats don't take control of the House in November.

The Harlem Democrat, who would be in line for the chairmanship of the powerful Ways and Means Committee if his party hold the majority, told The Washington Post he'd leave office after 35 years if the Dems don't win.
