? regarding satellite maps

I've noticed when I view the satellite imagery of the inter-coastal areas the tide level varies over time. I'm not that familiar with google earth or bing satellite maps so my question is how often are these maps updated and is there a way to go back and view a image in the past where say it was low tide?

Its from Landsat tiles mostly, the images are stitched which is why in some areas you can see low and high tide in the same spot. You can go back in time on earth to previous years but usually they don't update that often. Its worth looking at google earth, bing, and open street maps since they don't all use the same tiles and you can see differences between the imagery.

Any idea why Google Maps/Earth has waterway names goofed up? In my area,
everything is Fancy Bluff Creek--rivers, ICW, everything. It wasn't always that
way.
