Regular Guys are coming back!!!!

The problem I have with many who are easily offended is the desire to "ban" things that are felt to be offensive. For one thing defining what is actually offensive is quite problematic. What one person feels offensive another may not and vice versa. Just because YOU feel something is offensive doesn't mean that I should have to be subjected to a "G" rated life. Just because some people desire to shield their kids from certain things (understandable) doesn't mean that all adults should have to be shielded from the same things. Hardly anything offends me, but that doesn't mean I want to watch or listen to everything either. Now I see some conservatives are trying to censor XM radio and cable TV too because they say the parents cannot filter everything for the children. What a nonsense argument. It's up to the parent to understand what it is they have signed up and paid for.

7x57,
I don't think (I could be wrong) anyone has suggested banning them. It seems some of us are saddened by two things.
1). The market exist.
2). It's free over the public airwaves.
But to continue that discussion, if the Regular Guys were banned, you can still get all the porn you want from unlimited sources.
It boils down to this and on this many of us will disagree. If you want porn/smut/trash I think YOU should have to do a little something extra to get it. I don't think I should have to do anything extra to NOT get it or try and prevent my kids from getting it. Why should I be inconvenienced by the pornographic desires of others?
Again, the bar continues to lower so more and more people will have to do MORE things to NOT get what they don't want.
I have no problem with profanity on pay per receipt services like satellite radio and cable channels. I simply don't have to subscribe to what I don't want.
There is a feeling of "bombardment" on ALL fronts by those of us who view that the bar has been lowered too much. Eventually more and more people will have enough and then there will be an over-reaction that will have counterproductive results. Then the cycle will start again. (Smoking is a prime example. People kept shoving in other's faces even though there were plenty of personal and societal good reasons not to, so now we have largely illogical legislation to prevent that.) Each time however, the societal 'standards' will be looser due to the saturation of media and continued influence of some foreign cultures.

Phil

ps, dbone - a visual just for you. I always sleep, just the way God brought me into this world and that's bare butt naked. But prior to retiring each night, I do a room to room parade dancing to my favorite Marvin Gaye tune just to give the walls the pleasure. I guess I should bow to my neighbor's wishes and buy some curtains though.

Generally speaking, I wish all garbage was banned from the FREE PUBLIC airwaves but it ain't gonna happen and yes it would be totally subjective. Call WGST and express your views if you are a listener. I am, and if the clowns are as I expect, there will hear my views and will loose a listener assuming no remedy.

So do you or do you not wish all the things that you find offensive could be banned. I am not drawing a distinction here between public and private sources because I believe consumers should have the choice. If nobody wanted it then the sponsors would pull their ads and the stuff would cease to exist.

I find it funny that we consider ourselves the "most free" country in the world yet we want to control this sort of stuff as much as we can. When I lived in Detroit in 1996, we got Canadian radio and they could say anything they wanted to. I am sure it drives the FCC nuts because there isn't a darn thing they can do about it.

If I single handidly had the power to decide if those guys were on the air, I would NOT ban them (I know what I said, but if you want to get literal....). I am a single person with MY set of morals instilled in me by my parent's and my faith in God. NOBODY is going to have exactly the same set of morals as me (or you or anyone else) since my experience, like everyone else's is unique, so no, I'm not going to impose my morals on you. I'll try this again..... Likewise, I do not want YOUR (the hypothetical 'your') morals imposed on me.
Are you going to try and deny that many things today are completely acceptable that were not in our parent's generation or when we were growing up or even FIVE years ago?!?! My point is (which I'm apparently failing miserably to communicate) is those of us with more conservative views (to use today's venacular. Some of use would have been considered liberal on this issue one generation ago) are the ones who are being FORCED to accept intrusion in our lives when as I stated those with more liberal views already have their desires available to them. They want to SATURATE all aspects of life for what grand purpose I'd rather not imagine. It is indicative of similar movements in that it is the imposition of new 'looser' standards on ALL.
It IS getting worse.
It will NOT stop.
SOME of us are tired of it.
I'm mainly just depressed for my son.

Thanks for the conversation guys.

Irregular guys

Whats with all this **,trash talk in the A.M. that actually "entertains" people? What ever happened to the stations like 96 rock was in the good ol days, Mark McCain & Steve Mitchell & a whole lot of good music!! Thats what I want to hear while driving, less ** and more good music. If I wanted to hear stuff like the irregular guys, Id go to Bubbas and hope his cousin Waldo was there, hes a real HOOT!!
