RIP Chica

Had to put down my best little buddy today. Cancer ate her a new one. We tried everything under the sun, but alas the vet said no more. Chica in a lot ways was the typical story, son brings puppy home 11 years ago, I say no, get double teamed by crying wife and kids and relent. But I grew to love this sweet dog. She just seemed to like me the best from the very beginning. We must have been on thousands of walks in the neighborhood, but she loved to go to my hunting property the best. Goodnight sweet Chica. Here are a few pics at her happiest at the hunt club20210321_132343.jpg20210915_171920.jpg20210610_125534.jpg

I’m at a loss of words it always hits me hard.
Best I can do !

Golden Eyes
When golden eyes no longer glow,
and we both know it’s time to go,
Don’t look at me with eyes so sad,
but think of better times we had,
When sunlight did upon us shine,
and happy days were yours and mine,
And through the grass we both did run,
and on our backs we felt the sun,
Think not of this dark final hour,
think not of when our lives turned sour,
Think not of hopelessness and pain,
but think of joy and laugh again,
For in that final act of love,
you released me to heaven above,
Where finally from pain I’m free,
where one day you will join with me,
Where together again we will rejoice,
and you and I as with one voice,
Will in perfect harmony sing,
of the joy and pain that love can bring,
And remember me just as I will,
always think of you until,
At last again I see your face,
grieve not, I am in a better place.

Been there friend I know the pain well. We got another, said I wasn’t going too. But did he not the same but maybe over time it will be as good.

Brings tears to an old man's eyes.

Same with me, I said no. Like you I was out numbered, shamed and guilted.

Ended up being my best buddy for many years. Now that I'm a bit older I believe the hurt of losing your master (reality) seems worse.

The pain will fade, let it go. Hold on to those great memories!

Yep. I got a text with this picture from my wife when Chica was just a pup with a message saying " Well if you won't let us keep her, I guess I will get her ready to go back to the pound". ( She wasn't even a pound dog)image000007.jpg
