Saddle vs. Lock-on

Anyone use both and have thoughts? Went to go hang a lock-on yesterday after using my saddle exclusively for a while now. Got it installed, sat on it, lowered it back down. I found myself liking the top step (platform) and my saddle better than sitting there in the lock on, not to mention the work getting it up. I feel safer in my saddle as well.

I use both. I like my saddle for short afternoon hunts. I'm sure that if I could find the perfect saddle system then I'd only use my saddle. I've experimented with a couple of different systematic, but I would end up spending a fortune trying to test them all. My new lock on can be both a hybrid system. I have so much stuff that's it's getting ridiculous. I have four or five lock on millenniums, a tethrd saddle, a JX3 saddle, ladders, a climber, and my new lock on Elevate system. I may try a two panel saddle next

Haven’t tried the JX3. I use the Tethrd Phantom, and love it. Only got it because it was half off and unused though. I use the Trophyline Wingman as my platform - it’s a stick/platform combo. Saw that Elevate, it’s super nice.

I have both and Love both, but I find myself “running & gunning” a lot more chasing subdivision deer which causes me to use the saddle more. I own zero ladder stands, I sold them to the club I was in when I got out because I knew I was gonna start hunting urban. When I go to Illinois & Kentucky, I only bring my saddle and 2 sets of sticks. Just really depends on the situation I’m hunting, but I’d say 75% I’m in the saddle.

I use both, A LOT. As far as which I'd rather sit and hunt out of, then hands down the lock on for me. I use my saddle for spots I don't need a lock on all year long. I also only take my saddle for out of state hunts since its less to lug around.

It’s personal preference.

I have owned and used multiple brands of saddles & loc on’s, and I personally prefer loc on’s.

I’ve found myself getting busted more often in saddles and don’t find any comfort in sitting in a saddle for longer than 2-3 hours.
I still own and use saddles for shorter hunts, but I prefer a loc on.

Saddle as my safety harness with a small light lock on. I think I’m able to stay more still seated in the lock on, but sometimes I’ll stand and lean. Either way it’s the best of both worlds.

usually. Half the times I hung from s as grind set up. Haha

I think they both suck, and will be featured in one of the circles of Hades to sit in for unending hours. I prefer a climber.

I’m getting old and worn. I sit in a chair on the ground mostly anymore. By far the most comfortable for me and if by chance I fall asleep, I don’t have far to fall.

Never had many issues finding a tree for a climber, myself. I think what people use is more actually dictated by what it cool on hunting shows at the time. Why is a climber "mostly for gun hunters? " I've launched a lot of arrows out of them over the years.

If it's deep enough that I can only get a saddle back there, I'll just hunt on the ground. I've got Cabela's Gobbler loungers stashed under rocks all in the mountains around here.
About all the mountain hunting I do nowadays is on the ground. Bowhunting from the ground can be tough, though.

Strictly bow hunt mountains. Strictly a climber guy.

Nothing wrong with a climber. But being able to first hide behind and use the tree, then shoot from any side of the tree is hard to beat for me…
