Savannah River Stripers 12-03-21

I decided to mix it up a bit and try the stripers in the Savannah River this morning. I put in at 9:00 and fished until 11:00. I caught a nice 3 lb. hybrid 15 minutes after arriving at my first spot. She was caught on a bucktail jig. It got slow for 45 minutes or so as I tried a couple of nearby spots with no success. I went back to the first spot and was very fortunate to catch the 10 pound keeper. He hit on the up river side of the wingdam and immediately pulled out enough drag to get on the downriver side of the pylons. I managed to broadside my boat to the dam and let the current hold me in place while I fought him back through the pylons and into the net. Whew! Ten minutes later I missed one just like her. I didn't manage to get her back through the pylons. A beautiful day on the river and I will be back soon.
