Scent Killer Spray or Nose Jammer

We've all wondered if the scent killing spray we use is even working. Some may have had success, but are you really spraying anything that actually works on your stuff?
I've used practically every spray on the market with what I thought might be success, but maybe not.
I'm not paid by anyone either so let me get that out there.
I used Nose Jammer for the first time recently.
Wifey and I went out to Gaither WMA to do some scouting for my upcoming quota hunt that's during peak rut time. November 8-10.
We sprayed down our boots and clothes and gear as we were leaving the jeep.
We walked a few miles and found some good signs and were heading back towards the jeep.
We stopped, and about 10 yards away was a 7 point buck looking directly at us.
He stopped in his tracks, tail up, and on alert.
BUT, he didn't run. We watched as he breathed deep.
Really deep.
We could hear him breathing!
He didn't know what we were.
He WAS downwind from us.
I know because I vape and had just let out a cloud of vapor when I noticed him walking up towards us.
It floated right to this buck.
Still, he didn't run.
He just turned and slowly walked away.
Yes, he took a different path but we were sweaty.
Very sweaty.
It was 80 degrees!
As far as I'm concerned Nose Jammer works.

Just remember that this was one deer and one incident.

Many animals (including humans) do things that are inexplicable at the time.

Let that happen 50 or 100 times - with the same result - and then we might all chorus “it works”.

Best of luck!

Quart sprayer full of unsweetened apple juice and half a bottle of vanilla extract makes a good cover/curiosity scent and it's cheap enough you can be liberal with it.

I used to put out doe estrus with either a drag or dropper bottle. Still do but mostly now I put a bottle of it in a sprayer and fill it the rest of the way with distilled water as it has no smell or taste. i.e., clorine and fluoride. Spray it on waist high foliage as you walk along. Then spray some up high after you get in the stand. Carries a long way like that.

Code Blue makes very good tarsal gland gel. A big swab connected to the jar top so it helps you to not get that stinking stuff on your hands. Put it on the boot soles and/or make a drag.

Used to get unscented sanitary napkins with the adhesive strip. Took them and adhered them to the bottom of my boots, soaked em in Tinks.
Couple times it worked. 2 bucks met their demise that way.

I usually forgot to take them off my boots though before I climbed the tree. Made for a odoriferous hunt. :ROFLMAO:

We all have stories of the dumb deer that did whatever. My best one was the little 3 x 1 four pointer that, as I sat on the ground next to an old logging road, came along and stepped over my feet. I was 12 and had fallen asleep that drizzly Sunday morning of opening weekend. I woke to him standing over me. I moved my knee a little so I could see his head. He startled at my movement and ran maybe 5 or 10 yards and turned back to look at what had just scared him. He stood there as I brought my rifle up and shot him. I culled the dumb genes out of the woods that day.

I will never knock anyone for using something that they have confidence in. Although I've posted a version of this probably a hundred times over the years. Doesnt mean I'm correct, but I'm close :bounce:

"A deer that is down wind of you will pick up your scent no matter what you do to block or conceal it. Sometimes they react and sometimes they dont. Sometimes they come unglued, turn inside out and bolt and sometimes they stick around to see if they can figure out what they are smelling and sometimes they pay zero attention. There's no rhyme or reason either.

When an old buck picks you up AND actually cares about what he is smelling he will usually quickly and quietly back up and out and sometimes turn tail and haul tail with a quick blow.

When a doe picks you up AND actually cares about what she smells she will sometimes stand around stomping and head bobbing usually long enough for you to wanna jump out of the tree on her back and cut her throat.

A young buck and fawns will usually play ring around the rosy with each other cause baby bucks are the dumbest animals in the woods and fawns and yearlings dont seem to know any better yet.

I do what I can to try and not introduce more scent than I need to with scent scent free soap and clothes wash and deodorant but have zero illusions that a deer that gets a whiff of me will not know I am there.

Course I also carry my coffee and food to stand and pee from the stand. If they smell that they are smelling me too"

Get downwind (understand thermals) and hold still. These are the only things I know that that work. Sent killer, ozone generator, and holding your breath the entire time would be a close second. I use the sent killer stuff too and it does help me feel more confident and that counts for something.

I had a bottle of Tinks 69 leak out into my front overalls pocket on the way to a stand one morning . I took my knife and cut the front bib part off and thru it on the ground at the base of the ladder. Had a nice 8 pointer cone running from down wind straight to me about a half hour after daylight . I dropped him in his tracks with the ole marlin 30-30. Been using tinks ever since .
