SGI Surf Fishing

We'll be spending the week at SGI beginning next Saturday. It's been YEARS since I stayed there. Matter of fact, the jetties at the cut were open to public fishing the last time I was there.
I don't expect much on the surf side with the temps being so hot but what about bayside? We won't have a boat/kayak so we'll be stuck to wading or from land. Are there any public spots that may be worth trying before the sun gets too high?

Should be plenty of trout in the surf at dawn and dusk. I like a hard or soft jerkbait. If it is calm, a topwater plug does well.

The area around the Youth Ramp in the State Park always holds fish. You can wade the shore north out towards Goose Island. Any of the standard lures will work (mirrolure, gold spoon, popping cork with gulp shrimp, etc.). You can also fish the channel swing right in front of the ramp. Catch some finger mullet or pinfish and soak them on bottom. You will catch something. I prefer at falling tide.
