Simazine 4L

Has anyone used this for preemergent on centipede lawns that’s been over seeded with a fescue/rye mix. I over seeded 3 weeks ago and it’s up and green now. Will the Simazine kill the fescue after is up?

Thanks. That’s what I saw too. Just wondering if someone knows for sure if it will kill the fescue after germination.

I’m skeptical since it has post emergence activity, but it’s mainly used on warm season species. I haven’t found a clear answer yet, perhaps @doomtrpr_z71 can shed some light.

It may not completely kill it but it will definitely do some damage to it. I would go the prodiamine route then spot treat with trimec or trimec southern if any henbit or clover pops up thru your pre-m barrier.

I will admit fescue is way out of my range, I deal with centipede, bermuda, zoysia, and st augustine daily, but a quick search that was what appeared to be a safe option

Fescue is not tolerant of sulfonylureas to the best of my knowledge, it's only labeled for warm season grass anyway, you'd loose half of the fescue.

I believe simazine will kill rye, too. The trimec/weedbgon post emergent 3-ways are labeled as ok on rye and fescue.
