I never cared for ladder stands for that reason, unless you have railing around it that you can attach material to, I went to box stands many years ago , and even then camouflaged them in as best I could, in between two trees, or next to a bushy tree, etc,

sitting in a ladder stand any movement we make can be picked up from a long ways away

I believe there are some fabric roof frames that you can strap to a tree up above your head when using a ladder stand, if you get one of those you might be able to hang material from it that would drop down far enough to cover around you in the ladder ?

I always try to set them up so there is a pine or cedar or something behind it.

I have vines growing n smaller trees i let grow around it camo from head to toe sit very still but she looked at me like she was fixin to call 911. When she blew my camera caught one of her fawns catching some serious air. I try to become part of the big pine im leaning against but she was having it that day.

When I am silhouetted vs the sky in my climber, I try to stay near other trees /branches growing nearby plus i pre cut some small, short leafy limbs and climb the tree with those in hand and then stick those short leafy branches in my upper climbers adjustment holes.

How long ago did you set it up? Usually they get accustomed to changes fairly quick. Unless you made a fast or extreme movement, they normally wouldn’t give it a third look.

I have had older does pick me out of a tree before. I don't get as high as I used to get on ridges anymore, because of being skylined. I try to make sure that there is some cover behind me at all times. Have to break up the outline. Something to hide the slightest of movement as well. The older ones will pick you off so fast, specifically when they are pressured.

Either put her in the freezer,or move the stand. Those old does will try to pick you off from now on & alert the others,or just get downwind & blow..continuously :(.
