Some days you scout so you can fish tomorrow. Also, you scout to see what obstacles you'll encounter. Some obstacles are made by nature, some obstacles are made by man.

Looking for places where I can launch a 12' jon boat on the Flint River. Started around Woolsey, working my way down, stopped off at Joe Kurz and wound up at Flat Shoals below Gay.

There’s a boat ramp on White Oak creek at Joe Kurz. It’s about 100 yards from the Flint. Should be able to get in there no problem

There is a post on the fishing forum talking about people getting tickets, going where your taking about going, I know the wardens have been handing out citations, just for fishing and never leaving the boat, so if your talking about launching your boat from the shore and not a ramp, make sure you know where your going and who owns it, there’s some landowners that way, that aren’t playing

Page 26 of the current GON magazine (July 2022) says the state ruled that the Flint River is navigable. And, “for now, DNR won’t be writing tickets for fishing Yellow Jacket Shoals area, despite posted signs.”

ETA-With the caveat of staying in the boat. And the boat staying in the channel. It says the landowners property line is the low water mark.

I will have to read up on that, thanks for the heads up, I hunt the flint a good bit
