A dog man will do about anything to help or get his buddy out of a jam. I’ve seen guys carry an extension ladder a couple mile back on the mountain to get their hounds out of a cave or a high wall. We owe them that.

My blueticks were too big to go in a hollow tree but they were diligent in digging a critter out of the ground.
I would have used a hand saw and a ax to cut a hole in the side of the tree myself. An old black man did that to get coons out of a hollow tree. He was a hungry old fella and would eat whatever the dogs treed
