Tariffs are coming

I'm not saying that your assessment of how the Mexico tariffs are playing out is wrong - but on the surface it seems like drawing a circle around the arrow and calling it a "bullseye". Granted the tariffs might end up stopping the flow of Fentanyl - and I hope they do - but I think that might be an unintended consequence. If I were a bad actor Mexican drug cartel guy, I would figure out alternative methods to get the drugs into the USA.
And if those demands were already in play, like in December for Canada, and if Mexico always promises troops for border drug control as they did in the past, what have we truly gained? Nothing economically.

Depending on how you look at the tariffs, it could be said that Trump "caved." But we'll see in 30 days if he installs the tariffs for economical gain at that point.

Its a dang shame really. If only there was some way people with less money and less land could get into the game. Something they could do to make a small place huntable.
They could improve the habitat on that small tract, and not simply dump a bag of corn out. Small doesn't mean it isn't huntable.

if we could get rid of the EPA , or at least a majority of their restrictions in the last 40yrs ? a lot of manufacturing would return to this country !

And quickly.

We used to have smelting operations here in the US that would melt down scrap metal to be used again, not any longer, all scrap metal is now sent overseas , and then we buy it back, stupidity at its finest!

Maybe we could just look at things and say maybe? Hard to say we should return to a time when companies just dumped toxic chemicals into rivers n such.
Look at China and India at how polluted their air and water is, especially India. Watch a YouTube video and look how thick the smog is in every video. Most people wear masks in those filthy places. I’m thankful we have some restrictions in place. Once you pollute an area with toxins, it’s gone forever. Here in my hometown, we have 4 superfund sites! Four! All in the name of the mighty dollar. I’ll happily allow another country to pollute their country over mine. Some of y’all better be careful what you wish for.

There needs to be a middle ground somewhere , where the environment can be protected and still have some manufacturing going on, current regulations are ridiculous ! especially those on vehicles ,

Yep! We could get back to manufacturing while being environmentally conscious, unlike other countries.
All of our federal agencies are financially bloated and have too much power over the citizens and our businesses. I’d bet my last dollar they are structured to receive kickbacks from the folks they are supposed to regulate. All of them, ATF, EPA, CDC, IMF, HHS, etc., etc.
If we can rein them in to simply do the jobs they were intended to do,….fine. Even then, they will just become too big and overbearing again once the corrupt liberals get control of them in the future. I’m surprised so many on here support these tax gobbling agencies the way the liberals do.

Someone better be watching pollution, because there’s about 3 million EVs coming up for new batteries in the next few years. No idea what’s involved in recycling these monsters but can’t imagine it being a non pollutant.

I agree with everything you said here, but it isn't just liberals. Both sides are taking corrupt kickbacks. Main difference is liberals think you are too stupid to realize, or they don't even care if you know.

I grew up and have lived most of my life beside a dead river that was horribly polluted for a hundred years by industrial waste from a paper mill. It was horrible, and shameful. The air near that mill stunk for miles around, and would eventually eat the paint off cars close to the mill. It finally shut down a while back, mostly because of lawsuits from folks downstream, and it's nice to see the river coming alive again.

We also still have a superfund site in my county where a chemical factory blew up about 40 years ago.

Absolutely. That’s why they need downsizing or restructuring. Make them small enough to stay busy only doing their intended jobs. Get rid of agencies that are no longer needed and only represent big government waste.

Leftists losing their minds over things like cutting waste given to non government entities like cutting 6 million tax payer dollars given to Egypt to promote Egyptian tourism or the millions given to Zimbabwe to promote their gayism or whatever...good lord.

My grandchildren now are being poisoned by the additives in foods, the vaccines the Gov forces on them to go to school, and the taxes our Gov has imposed on them before they are old enough to work , so I guess its six of one , half dozen of the other as to which direction you choose ? As far as hunting goes, I know each state is different , but I have no illusions that deer hunting will exist in Georgia by the time my oldest grandaughter is old enough to buy a license, between our DNR regulations and developers buying up tracts of land, deer will only be seen in subdivisions and wildlife sanctuaries
It will take a while to get to the very rural areas, but it's crawling and coming. A lot of the area around where I've lived my whole life doesn't even look the same as it did 20 years ago. I'm afraid that Georgia is slowly becoming California.

We had two mills here. Hercules and Ga Pacific. Hercules shut down in 2023 after a major fire. Both polluted and stunk the entire county up like you wouldn’t believe. The last 10 years or so haven’t been nearly as bad with the smell, though.

It’s a shame how some of these big companies move into an area and foul it up. Some places will never recover.
