Think I found my problem

I’m hardcore I’m still hunting with my black powder gun. I shot a deer Friday afternoon got blood however I walked up on it and it runoff. So I shoot my gun today and I’m shooting high and to the right. So I shot another and it’s spot on. I need to clean the lube out of the barrel then load and go hunting. The first shot was a flyer or spoiler.

Mine shoots best spotless and I prefer to start a hunt spotless clean anyway.
Don’t get the flyers out of my encore.

I heartily agree with the firing of at least 2 caps after cleaning. There's enough power there to blow any leftover gunk out of the barrel and also to ensure nothing has oozed back down towards the breech to block the touch hole. (y)

Yep. I usually fire two or three caps before loading.

I also store my rifle barrel down just in case anything has a chance to run out the end of barrel instead of sitting up in nipple.
