Batjack

Back when I was in school I had a friend find a dead flying "tree rat" laying on the ground below a bird box he had nailed to a tree. While he was checking it out he heard some noise in the box and found 3 babies in there. He took the box apart and "tried" to raise them on warm milk and greens. After 3 days they were near dead and he called me. I told him to grind up a hotdog and let them eat it. He had no idea that they were carnivores. Should have told him how to build a escape proof cage too .. once they grew up he had a heck of a time get'n them out of the house.

This is straying a bit, but I'll never forget Lewis Grizzard talking about playing with "flyers" when he was boy. A "flyer" was usually a dead squirrel that had been run over flat, then baked in the sun to where it was hard. They scrapped it off the road and proceed to throw it back & forth like a frisbee.

Ahh, what fun those boys had back then.
