Went Saturday on our club we killed 3 and on the last race almost back at camp dogs ran hot then stopped we all said rabbit must have went in a hole. Got back to camp and had a missing dog, us and owner went looking walking down one of our woods roads stopping and calling and at one of the stops he heard a faint whine. The dog had dug up into a huge standing hollowed out poplar tree whose roots were exposed on a creek bank and was stuck, took 2 hours of cutting to get him out.

Glad he was saved, and very glad there wasn`t a rattlesnake denned up in there.

just curious, did the owner have tracking collars?....sounds like a good hunt though!

That’s a bad feeling when a dog goes missing. We had a very similar situation with an armadillo hole one day. Lots of digging. Luckily the dog handler had the point of last transmission from the collar to get us close

Is the dogs name lucky?
Great outcome!

I've pulled them out of wells before but never seen one like that in a tree. Certainly glad you found him and got him out.
