Apparently a free edumacation isn’t enough for an 18 year old who probably wouldn’t qualify to a major university academically. If they did qualify, they might not be able to afford it.

They might get into UGA academically if they’re from GA and live in a rural county. It’s a quota deal. Take a certain amount from each county. If they filled admissions by merit or academics for GA residents, then most would come from metro counties like Cobb. 4.4 GPA, 1450 SAT score, 32 ACT score, 5 AP courses in HS gets you a DENIED FOR UGA if your from Cobb and are a white male. However, the rural county we moved from - cut the above numbers by 30% and you’re in no problem. Seen it first hand this Fall.

Same here with my son, we live in Coweta. No go with 4.4, 1390, and a bunch of AP courses. Deferred then denied. But my niece, less than 4.0, 1200 SAT, from Habersham county. (female) got accepted.
