Walked a creek, saw a snake

No kings, corns, or coachwhips at all here. I have saw a spreading adder in about 35 years. The toadfrogs disappeared, and so did the spreading adders.

That`s a shame. We do still have plenty of toadyfrogs around here. Hardly none down at the Seminole cabin though.

Used to be lots of toads, and quite a few spreading adders here when I was growing up. I don't know what happened to them. This was the first year I didn't hear a single toadfrog singing.

First pic the adder is bloody because I took it away from a black racer. We have two kinds, the Southern and the Eastern. They get fairly big down here. These were all around the back porch where the toadyfrogs stay.

That’s strange. They’re all still thick here on the south side of the parkway. Except for the adders. There’s so many toads I can’t walk to the barn at night without stepping on one.

It's probably been ten years since I've saw a toad in the yard. When I was growing up, they were as you describe. At least I still have plenty of terrapins (box turtles.)

Still have plenty of toads here. I have plenty of oak snakes, black snakes and king snakes. Every once in awhile I’ll see a copperhead or or rattlesnake
