I remember someone on here planted some wax myrtles at their camp. Where is a good place to buy em? Anybody got any good leads for these or other native trees? Thanks

Check with GFC. Been growing them since 2013. Great screening plant that's easy to grow.

Yep. Planted in 2012 or 13 as 12" to 18" bare roots. Now bout 20 to 25 ft tall. Unfortunately, the ones we planted for screens along the dirt road were nuked by the county when they sprayed the banks with some type of chemical that killed anything growing and a prescribed fire that got a few of em. Just a few left along the property line but the ones by the entrance that didn't get nuked are huge. Really like em.

You can dig up all the myrtles you want for free in a lot of places.
No need to pay money for a trash shrub.

It is a trash shrub that has no benefit to wildlife in general.

Swamp - OP asked where he could purchase wax myrtle or other native trees...not your opinion of what is and is not a trash shrub. I can't think of a plant that is native to the southeast I would consider trash. I can think of a number of invasive species that I'd consider trash. YMMV.

I actually think it’s little blue berries are eaten by most of our birds and I want to say several species of butterfly or bees? Benefit from it as well.

I hinge cut the large ones and the deer will eat the leaves of the freshly sprung limbs I do know that as well.

Some do but the squirrels will cut the limb just below the berry clump and take it with them. I have a big one in my yard and they cut it almost bare each year. At least this is what happens in my yard. I need to think the little jokers out some. Way too many.
