Just wow is about all I can say ! Started Tuesday morning Nov 5 , decided to go hunt a little while and then hang my climber and scatter out some corn in several different locations in preparation for my vacation from work coming up . So I get in my stand at daylight and had action quick . This buck chased a doe by me first thing and I passed him . They came back by with better daylight and I decided I liked him . I’ve been hunting this property for 25 years and haven’t killed a buck off it since 2019 . IMG_6962.jpegIMG_6965.jpegIMG_6967.jpeg

Didn’t hunt anymore the next few days , only rode through a couple times keeping the does fat and happy . So I’ve got off work this week and decided to go yesterday Nov 10 and check trail cams and feed up and sit a couple hours before dark .
My dad wanted to go so I let him pick what stand he wanted and we went on our way around 4 . I hadn’t been in the stand 15 minutes and seen this buck headed in my direction crossing a 100 acre cow pasture without a care in the world . I quickly recognized him from previous years with his flop/ broken ear ., I’ve had pictures of him for 4 years . We have been seeing him mostly on Camera for only a week or 2 right around this time . It was pretty emotional pulling the trigger on this old man . I’m guessing he was 7-8 years old . Scars from one end to the other .
Back to the hunt , he was in a field I don’t have permission to be in and I was about 50 yards from line . He looked like he was gonna cross over to my side about 300 yards . So I started grunting pretty loud and he finally heard it and stopped . When he did I gave him another loud grunt . I shot him at about 20 yards just a few minutes later . He tried to go back through fence but got hung up and died right there in a couple seconds . IMG_7081.jpegIMG_7079.jpegIMG_7080.jpeg
