What kind of maple is this?

I’m sure it’s some kind of Japanese maple. It must be some kind of a dwarf cause it has taken it 20 years old to get this big. It was just a wee sap when I put it out. Green leaves only. Any answers on what kind it is? I would love to know. It was given to us and was not what kind it was.

"Useless Billy" Fire Chief.
The one I have like that was called a Japanese maple by the person that gave it to me, but it has purple leaves. It’s maybe 10 feet tall after 13 years.
