White oak acorn shortage,

Im not super familiar with black oaks, the bark is kinda shaggy like a white, but darker and the leaves look like reds right? I def saw a few trees I thought were black oaks on Chestatee, but I couldn’t tell if they were dropping or not with all the reds raining. I didn’t pay them any more attention that red oaks. I didn’t see any climbing or feed sign on red oaks. I know some folks found climbing sign on some mountain oaks, but the only trees I found that they were climbing were white oaks. Do the critters prefer black oaks over reds?
Deer love black oak . small and dark yellow. Some ole timmers called them cheese acorns.

Might have to pay more attention next time I’m up. Do they eat them as soon as they fall, or do they grab them after the whites are gone?
