Wood question

This my granddaughter's fence in Colorado.
Looks like type of pine. Hand cut with axe cuts on the ends..
Any guesses as to type of wood or age.

it is some type of evergreen, but it is hard to tell what species

Being Colorado my guess would be Ponderosa pine. Common in the West.
