First time out after procrastinating, figuring the last weekend would be nasty from the upcoming storm. Success last night with the help from a friend.

Congrats! What method did you use to get the first line on him? Wouldn't mind hearing how the hunt/fight went down, if you have time.

Went to where we saw him go under at just sat there quietly waiting and after 15 minutes or so he popped up 20yds from boat. Casted a 12/0 treble on my frog rod and hooked up and he pulled us around a bit then was able to get a second hand line in him after first one broke. That treble went through his back foot so every time we tried to pull him up he came up tail first and couldn’t get his head out of the water. Finally gave a shot boatside. The treble on braided line wasn’t even hooked good he just wrapped all up from spinning. Couldn’t believe he didn’t break off after running under boat twice. Good learning experience for a beginner with minimal gear.
