this morning i went up to check on my animals and i heard all this commotion so i checked it out to watch this big ole gobbler fighting thru the netting with my birds...i watched for several minutes and thought how awesome it would be to shoot him and do a mount with my other big bird i killed (12" beard) in Georgia the other day and do a fighting mount with the 2 as i have always wanted a fighting mount with 2 good birds and between the 2 they would have 24-25" of beards....this bird easily had 1 1/2" spurs or bigger but I also thought it is just neat having the birds hang out in the yard all the time as i have seen as many as 17 birds this spring up from 2-3 birds from just 3-4 years ago. I have houses all around me and we are trying to expand the population around here......but boy is it hard to not shoot something this size....good thing i already shot a couple nice ones at the club this year!

That's cool. I always wondered if having domesticated turkeys would bring in wild ones...I guess now we know!

Thats cool. I know of a story that happened several years ago where a hunter took his pet hen to the woods. The GameWarden had heard of this and walked in on him. The hen was standing out in front of him and he said that he did not know what was wrong with the bird. Must be crazy or something. Then he went to get in his truck to leave and when he opened the door, the hen flew right in the truck to leave with him. Kind of hard to deny hunting with domestic turkey decoy then. He received a ticket. This happened about 20 years ago or so. It would be easy for me to not shoot. Tim

the best part is there is several gobblers hanging around...there is another bird as big as this one that walks with a limp, I believe he has been shot at already had this limp since last year but was seen the other day at my neighbors, I want to see these two lock up never seen 2 toms fight in the wild but there are several smaller toms and jakes with these 2....it sure is neat hearing several gobble around the house especially living so close to town....now if it would only rain so i can finish putting a plot in for these birds, it's like a desert around here!
