Because the Florida subspecies of the mountain lion, ironically, called the Florida Panther (imagine that), does still hang on in limited quantities, down there. And they are tannish brown, every one of them. NEVER been a recorded case of a black one.

So I assume you were not one of the persons saying a Panther does not exist ;)

Read the other thread, the "black panther" very well may be a black jaguar. which is a panther ;)
