I bought a 15 foot square stern canoe at dicks this past week. I have a minn Kota 45 lb. Trolling motor. Is this enough motor for this boat. I will be fishing calm to very light current river setting.

Just a precautionary, If you mount your battery in the front and extend the cables be sure to fuse it next to the battery. Because if something happens the heat will melt the plastic quick. And like everyone else said, that will be more than enough power.

Well I took out the canoe today. It is a 15 foot old town sportsman with a square stern. I used the 45 pound minn Kota and flew across the cove at kellog creek on toona. What a great ride. Even in a substantial wind it was leaving a wake. Hundreds of seagulls. On the lake eating dying shad. Water temp was 43 degrees. No one was catching anything. But great to be on the water. Thanks for all your input.
