Nitros, Hevi 13, or blends???

I went into my local sporting goods store and they had some Nitros for sale. They were the 3 1/2", 2 1/4 oz, 4x5x7's..

What do y'all think about this load? They are selling them by the shell at $7.99 each. I have a Benelli SBE2 w/ a Comp-N-Choke XXXFull..

Is it worth it for me to buy a few of these or just stick to the Hevi-13's? Is there an advantage to shooting a blend? Also, should I try out the Magnum Blend in the Hevi-13's?

Here are my 2 patterns with my gun and Hevi-13 6's at 30 and 40 yards...

Seems like most are getting best results in straight 6's and 7's versus the mag blend. I shot both 6's and 7's with good results, but I have never tried the mag blend. As for the Nitro's, Ive never personally shot them, but I think its safe to say you will see an improvement, but its really up to you whether or not the improvement from the Nitros is worth the extra cost. To me, looks like you're on the right track with the Hevi 6's that your shooting now. First ive ever heard of a place selling individual shells, but at least that way you can buy a couple to try, and make your decision from there.

looks like pixy dust....with 4s & 5s..........

hey aaron, i started shootin nitros last year out of my nelli and i wouldnt shoot any other load through it. Im shootin a jelly head .665. Your 40 yard with nitros will look like your 30 with the hevi 13's.

OVERKILL is the name of the game.

When I light the fire - I want every advantage I can get.

On a Longbeard, there is no such thing as too dead.

i used to not agree with this but it's just plain fun patterning a shotgun and seeing how tight you can get the pattern...though my shoulder would disagree. im not gonna try to snipe turkeys at 75 yards but i want to make sure they are dead inside of 40 or so. overkill is the way to go.

IMO, I would test your patterns out to 50 yards or so to get your selection. Yesterday, I got 248 pellets iof #7 in a 12'' circle at 40 yards... but at 50, the count dropped down to 132. When I shot the 6's, I only got 189 at 40 yards... but only dropped to 148 at the 50-mark. Bottom line... I'd rather have the extra range and less pellets close than pulverize them at 30-40 and wonder if I could kill a hung-up bird farther out.

My go to for the past several years has been the Hevi 13 3.5 2.25oz #6's, my 870 SM with .665 JH has posted 216 in the 10 at 40. I went to the range yesterday and had a box of Hevi 13 3.5 2.25 Blends that I bought last year and tried them and got 250 in the 10 at 40 with the same .665 JH. I was very suprised and have plenty of shells for a couple years. I will have them in my gun this year.
