They came to my house today to talk about using it in a movie , took a Bunch of pictures and said they would show to producer and if he likes they will be in touch tomorrow . They wanted two houses across from each other , left a note on my door when I was gone to lake villa , got home thew note away and neighbor called and talked me into meeting them . I don't have a mansion just the 50's style house they are looking for , said 3 days shooting and 1 night shooting in back yard .

Not trying to scare you, but read the fine print. These movie folks ain't like you and me with respect for people's property, quiet, or peace of mind. They are there to do a job and they don't care about anything except getting that done and they don't care what any contract said. In their mind, anything that was broken can be fixed or replaced.

I don't worry about them breaking anything , I live alone with my Lab and if they want to use him in the outdoor party scene then he's for rent .

Based on what they pay movie stars, I'd make darn sure I charged them enough to become debt free and have health insurance for life. They got the money.

Keep an open mind. They film around here a good bit and most people that allow it are compensated very well for it. Very well…….

The used a neighbors barn in the Walking Dead. It was old, galvanized roof and siding. The scene called for graffiti spray painted on the barn. When they got done they hired a guy to put new metal on the sides of that old barn.

My wife was pretty close to start filming of a reality TV show a few years ago.

She backed out when she read the fine print and found everyone involved to be trying their best to make you do things you don’t want to do.

The compensation did not match the commitments.

Your situation is different but I will bet the fine print is similar.

My experience with these folks is they will take care of your property quite well. Compensation is reasonable based on their needs. Push too hard for too much and they'll walk.

Get EVERYTHING in writing...when they start AND leave....had a group filming a disney re make of Big Red and wanted to use a field in front of our house to park cars for the crew, offered us 250 for one day....never saw a dime....no big deal, didnt mess up anything....just be mindful....

The locations people are usually locals and I've seen them bend over backwards to make sure things are better than they found them. Not saying there's no chance of errors, damage, or whatever but having been on several sets for set up, filming and breakdown, they do a pretty good job. And they are very unionized so I would imagine everything will be in writing. I wouldn't hesitate to make a deal with them if I had property they wanted to use.
