Rocky Face/Dalton

Does anybody know if you can hunt buzzards roost? This is the ridge behind Dalton State College. There are hiking trails up there and I've seen good sign while on them. I've also seen signs of hunters too. I'm just curious if anybody knows if it's legally huntable.

Buzzard's Roost

It's part of the John's Mountain WMA which people do hunt. There was a big battle up there in 1864 so some parts may be more protected than others.

If you're talking about the ridge directly behind the school, the answer is no. The college owns the eastern half and Bob Shaw owns the western half.

That's not johns mtn. Johns is further south by a good piece

From what I can tell, its private land. If you send me your email address, I'll be glad to send you a nice map of the west side of the chattanhoocee National Forest. I have the east as well.

I believe it is all privately owned. And across the Interstate Hwy., that is owned by Whitfield County and used for hiking.
