Got permission to a beaver pond that is beautiful. Being my first visit I was unaware of the layout and saw/spooked the geese and wood ducks trying to get close. With the inhabitants gone for a bit I made a path to a good vantage point and cleared a few saw briers to make a comfortable hide next visit. I sat down to see if the wood ducks might come back and after a few minutes I thought I saw one of the beavers coming from a distance. Too small for a beaver; maybe a small otter. I pulled up my camera zoomed to 400mm. What a surprise! A mink! The second time I've seen one in the wild; first with camera in hand and headed my way. It came to the beaver lodge and climbed all over it then swam to the bank right below me.
