Plant ID

Up at camp last week and looking at plots we put in late April. Saw 2 plants in one of the plots that I'm not sure what they are. I think the one on the bottom is pokeweed, but have not see the top one before. the second pic is a side view of that same plant. thanks Jeff

The one in both pics is rabbit tobacco (Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium.) Can't see the other one close enough to say for sure, but it definitely isn't pokeweed. It looks like maybe either wild petunia (Reuellia,) or Indian tobacco (Lobelia inflata)

Not pokeweed. Pokeweed looks like this when it is a seedling:

thanks fore the replies! I didn't recognize the rabbit tobacco with out the blooms... but see it now. Here's a better pick of the one I thought was poke

I'm going with Ruellia caroliniana, wild petunia. It's not an invasive problem plant. If that's it, it'll have purple flowers on it a little later on.

Post some pics when it grows and blooms, and we can likely give you a better answer.
