*Hammered the Yankee Bass.......AGAIN* (Pic Heavy)

Good afternoon everybody, for back last night from our Vacation up in New York and no I’m not talking about New York City…….I’m talking about Lake Merriewold NY. Its two hours away from the city out in the beautiful lush forest of the New York wilderness. I love this place so much. My in-laws have a place up there and it has a 60-acre lake that sits right in the middle of it and it’s loaded with fish. Mainly bass and pickerel but there are perch and bream or “sunnies” as they call them up there. It really is paradise for me. I get up every morning and fish as the sun comes up and up that far north…..it’s light enough to fish by about 4:50 AM. I was usually on the water by 5:10 slinging topwater. We went last year in June and we wore them out so I was a little worried that the bite might not be as good and it wasn’t………..BUT…….we still caught good fish every single day. I did lose some baits this year which was a real bummer but I just re-tied something else on and keep on catching fish. Hunter Jack busted them….Jaimelou busted them….my brother in law Mike busted em……my little nephew Mason who is 4 busted them……I mean we hammered’em. Our total numbers were probably off by a little bit compared to last year and no real big ones were caught either but I did tangle with one that looked to be in the 5-6 pound range but it shook off right at the boat as it slide out of the net……..it was a real heartbreaker!!!! I dealt with a lot of heartbreak this year……..I lost more lures this year than I ever did before. One of them was my beloved “Whopper Plopper”……..just a stupid bonehead thing by ole Cletus that cost me! Trying to grab the line and swing the bass in the boat and it was such a stupid stupid thing to do………I never do that, but I did this time and the whopper plopper plops no more!!!!

Losing the Whopper Plopper did force my hand in using the Mikey Kawashi and they started killing that bait too. MAN that is a fun bait to catch ‘em on. It was a great week of vacation and Merriewold is such a special place that it makes driving 13-hours worth it. Thankful and grateful for safe travels and such a good time up there.

Here’s an overload of pictures to show you the awesomeness of Merriewold. Hope yall enjoy them!

I got over 100 Gopro clips too that I'm going to go through and produce a couple awesome fishing videos. It's going to take me a little while to edit it though.

Tight Lines Folks

Cletus

Great Catch!

I enjoy fishing in Illinois every summer up at my wife's family's home. Those northern "footballs" pull like freight trains!

I like that Bucky T………….. “Northern footballs” that’s a great name for them!!!

And yes…….they do pull like freight trains and their markings are so crisp and clear. I love those fish!

The northern sub species are more squatty and thick. Shaped like a football. lol Fine table fare too, if you like to keep a few for a fish fry.

We didn't keep any of the bass but we did keep a couple perch and filleted them up.............they were mighty tasty!!!

That time of year has come again…..we’ll be hitting the highway heading North early in the morning to one of my most favorite places…….Merriewold New York. We’ll be spending all next week of there and I’ll be fishing every single day and after my skunk-fest down in Florida last week I’m going to show NO MERECY to those Yankee Bass!!!!

Wish us luck!

Great photo's - you're living right. The fishing up north is great for about 2 months - enjoy. You can have those winters.

Tear them up and drive safe.
