Places around Atlanta for trout

Hey y'all I'm planning my first fly fishing excursion for this coming Saturday. I live on the north side of 285 and was told to check out Island Ford.

Is that a good spot to put my practice into play? I do not have waders so was planning on fishing from the shore line. Thanks for any advice!

Right up stream from 285 used to be good.
Have not been there in a while though.
Some deeper water around in there.

Good bank fishing below Buford Dam, if that's not to far.

Thanks for the information. Buford Dam may be a little too far for Saturday. That is however somewhere that I plan on going to in the near future.

All through Roswell is good fishing ... On a hot day the scenery ain't all that bad either!

My advice is this: don't start with trout in moving water. Newbies should start with something easier, IMO. Head out to a bluegill pond instead.

1st get waders kinda of hard to backcast with the shoreline clutter/trees/bushes right behind you. 2nd go to the delayed harvest section / Paces mill area on the Hooch
