Yesterday was hot and I almost decided not to hunt. But- with season winding down I decided I’d feed mosquitoes for an hour or two.
About 40 minutes into my sit this little dude showed up and was eating mushrooms or something only about 6 yards from me. I was on the ground, in my ghillie, and when I couldn’t see his eyes I drew and let him have it.
The shot was good, hard to miss at 6 yards, so I wasn’t really concerned with watching him run off. But that was my mistake because as I was packing up the bottom fell out and my blood trail was washed completely away. He didn’t run into the wide open pine trees- but into the thickest crap on my property. It was tough but I finally found him about 70 yards from where I arrowed him.
He is going to be 1/2 maple and 1/2 jalapeño and cheese link.
