Location: Eufaula (Alabama), Fort Gaines and Georgetown (Georgia)
Type of bass: Largemouth, spotted
Best time to fish: Spring to fall
Did you know: The 45,000-acre lake also goes by Walter F. George Lake.
Bottom line: Located along the Georgia/Alabama border, Lake Eufaula owes it reputation as a bass-fishing paradise in large part to the plethora of boat docks and brush that provide ideal hideouts for the fish.

I lived in Eufaula for over 40 years. I probably fished every inch of that lake, at least from below the dam to up past Florence Marina...

Got some mighty big fish from there over the years. It's changed a lot since the lilly pads and coontail and stuff people deliberately brought in from Lake Seminole took over, as well as the tree shelters finally rotting away.

I still love to fish there, though!
