Partially true...here is what I found online.

The world's biggest horse was born in 1849 and was indeed named Sampson. He stood a little over 7 feet tall (21.25 hands) and weighed 3,359 pounds.

The horse in that picture, if real, would have been roughly 10 feet tall and at least 5,000-6,000 pounds.

They got the name and timeframe right, but not the picture.

I think that is likely photoshopped...that thing would be the size of an elephant...Sampson was slightly larger than today's largest breeds...I only know this as we went to the Budweiser museum in St. Louis several years ago and read about the Clydesdales...the Shire is probably the largest of the modern breeds...but a Clydesdale can be 17-19 hands if I recall...so only 2 hands smaller than Sampson...

I figured it was photo shopped or some other mess.
But I figured Id post it.
I think the big horses are awesome.
There is a show called Gentle Giants about the big horses, there amazing at what they can pull etc.
