Boiling Stone

Found nice boiling stone today. One of the few i have found whole.

all the pieces of cooking stones I have are made from soap stone, yours looks like a river rock which I bet was hard to drill!! Thats cool!!

That is a great artifact, I just don't see someone spending that much time to drill that piece to use as a boiling stone. I don't know what it is, but that's a lot of work. Nice find.

This is soapstone and holds heat really well when placed in the fire. You could drill a hole in this stone in a matter of minutes with a pocket knife. They were soposed to be used before pottery to cook food that was placed in an animal skin and the hot stone was placed in there.

I've got plenty of boiling stones, just never seen one like that. Nice find.
