Box Call Help

I just made three box call and I was wondering if you need to seal the wood that gets exposure to the elements. What would you use?

These ain't them fool-proof calls!!!

I seal mine inside and out with Minwax wipe-on satin poly. 1 coat on the inside and several on the outside.

I also use the Miniwax Satin Poly but I just use it on the outside.

Use Caution though not to get any on you paddle or sound board tops!

Good tip Glen!

I cover the lips of the sound boards and striking area of the paddle with scotch tape before I start finishing.

Poly

Cover the sound board and bottom of paddle with painters tape.

Many call makers use deft poly spray which is what I use. Works great but don't get any bug spray on the call

Post some pics of your calls if you have any, making box calls is very hard good job
