ATTENTION ALL. The Chattahoochee WMA check station has been officially relocated as of today 9/7/2023.

For all of those intending to hunt the WMA, your options are to sign in online or at the NEW check station location.

The new location is at the intersection of Asbestos Road and Alt 75. It is immediately across from Dukes Creek Church.

The street address is not listed in Google maps as of yet, but that is in process. If you can use coordinates, the coordinates are as follows:

34.671754,-83.778552

A sign has been posted at the old check station location which directs Chattahoochee WMA users to the new location.

The new location is gated for the time being while construction continues. At the gate is a primitive sign-in box. You must use this box to sign in for ALL big game hunts UNLESS you sign in using the online system.

Share this withall of your fellow friends and sportsmen to get the word out. DNR will release an official statement regarding this matter in a few days. Make sure everyone you know is aware of the new check station location. Thanks.

...just joking, seriously.
Like.
Way better than having to drive into the interior of the w m a only to have to drive right back out again to hunt somewhere else.

Yes, most processors and some taxidermists can tag bears even if you do not want them to process your bear. Call them beforehand to find out if they are one that tags them.

I found this last night looking for stuff about the hound hunt Kyle is this who tags bears or is it all processors and taxidermists? Seems confusing since you said most but there’s only a few on that list

That's "most" as in most processors in the area can do it. The majority of the processors in this area are on that list. Towns, Habersham, Dawson, Rabun, Union, White, Banks, and Stephens Counties.
