Went up to Michigan's U>P> last week for a little fishing and grouse hunting. It was a bust on both. Hunted for two days and never saw a bird.
My cousins who live up there said it is a bad year for them. We switched to fishing and got skunked there too, a few walleyes and small northerns.
Still got so see family that i haven't seen in 5 years and the scenery was fantastic,

Opening day, 10 grouse in two hours. Today, just woodcock and the season opens tomorrow so no shots fired. Gotta hold your mouth just right if you're looking to get on birds here.

Making my 1000+ mile drive in 2 weeks. Hopefully will get into a few birds and catch some fish. Love the trip regardless.

Don't get me wrong, i had a great time and would turn around and do it again in a heartbeat. I usually go up in 2nd week of October but, my brother and his family were
up also and so we went up early.

I am going in a few weeks near Gwinn. Where you hunt Killinstuff (general area)?

Around the house, Traverse City area but I'm very mobile and cover a lot of ground looking for new spots. Heading to the UP next week also (Crystal Falls, Ralph area) for a week or so.

Well, we did go to a family reunion and to one of the local "indian casinos", where
i won $300 and my son won $750. We spent that at Rapid River Knifeworks. So it wasn't a bad trip.

Made my trip up north and killed 2 grouse and 9 woodcock in 5 days. Weather was awful and only hunted a few hours each day. Great trip! Had fun and had way more flushes than expected with the projections. Just too many leaves left to get good looks.
