Drunken Boxes

Wife saw these boxes on the internet and asked me to make one.
Boxes are made with maple and purpleheart. Measurements are roughly 6"x6"x6".

Never seen one myself but a fantastic work. I’m going to say that would definitely make a drunk man weave and fall down.

The trick to making is back to back tape and a band saw.
Take the two different woods and stack them with the back to back tape.
Next step is to run the wood thru the band saw, making curves all the way the length of the board. For the boxes, I made 3 cuts that gave me 4 pieces.
Pry the boards about from the back to back tape and move every other piece to the opposite board.
Glue the cut pieces together and wait a day.
Again, with the back to back tape, stack the boards together and cut in the vertical direction, making curves along the way.
Then, pry the boards about, move every other piece to the opposite board and glue. Pay attention so the points line up.
