I recently had some books suggested for me to read. The author is Gavin DeBecker. Most libraries have them. He is a security specialist and much more that I won't touch on now.

His basic premise is that your intuition is way more important than most Americans give it credit for. We typically discount it because it is not based on logic. In this case your intuition warned you from the very beginning that the whole trip was an opportunity for disaster but you allowed yourself to be talked into it.

Then your intuition shot up a flag when dad carried his own gun instead of riding shepard on his son. Then your intuition shot up another flag when the dad was out of position. In both cases you didn't act on the grave warnings.

I am not trying to second guess you or tell you that you are stupid or something. Far from it, I just want everyone to be safe. I wouldn't have recognized the warnings myself if I hadn't just read these books and had my eyes opened to the power of the sub-concious brain to forecast danger. I think if you had read these books you would possibly have realized that you needed to act on those warnings and protect yourself and Jr no matter how silly you might have felt at the time.

I hope everyone here will read DeBeckers first book. The later ones are really just a rehash for 9-11. Your SO's need to read it too. It deals a lot with personal security in our modern society.

Again, please don't take this as a bash. I am not that type of person. There was a situation a couple of years ago where a son shot and killed his dad while out deer hunting. I am always shaken by such stories because of the impact on the lives of the survivors. That poor boy's dad called him on the walkie talkie and told him that he was coming to him but to be ready in case a deer got jumped up. Totally insane. He should have told him to unload that rifle right now and leave the bolt open. Instead that boy will live with that nightmare for the rest of his tortured life.

Just read the book. Some may think it is bunk but DeBecker moves in circles most of us can't even imagine.

The book title is "The Gift of Fear"
